‘Picturesque’ is how I would describe Villandro. Patterned after a villa in the Villandro village of Italy, the formerly old four-bedroom home, which has been transformed into a modern restaurant, is set against a backdrop of big, luscious green trees, with the deep blue skies peeping through their branches like a curious child. The ambiance is soothing, cool, and refreshing. Not surprisingly, as the creative Kwame has for years now been posting pictures of idyllic venues around the world, naming them as Ghanaian towns. Inside Villandro, one is welcomed to its stunning ‘II Patro’ restaurant and bar, and nine wide, spacious rooms, softly furnished with well-laid beds and contemporary décor. In a far corner of the restaurant, Kwame Sowu, my host who has invited me to spend this lovely weekday at Villandro with him, sits with his eyes casually scanning the room.
