You are my go-to big sister, always open to ideas and willing to offer honest opinions and share experiences. Some of my fondest memories with you include our late evening pep talks and phone conversations about dealing with growing teenage boys and managing finances, which often end up as jokes, teasing, and gossip. On your 50th birthday, my family’s wish for you is to continue being that wonderful big sister and to nurture the family friendship we’ve built. Be happy! May God grant your heart’s desires. We eagerly look forward to celebrating your 75th birthday. We truly appreciate your friendship. Albert Arthur-Brown I admire your work on tailings and your lectures to Ghanaian engineers on tailings dam design. I remember our time as graduate students during our weekly prayer meetings. Those were good times. My wish for you is that you excel in your job and continue to use your tailings dam expertise to help Ghana. Nii Allotey I love your leadership, mentorship skills, and spirit of voluntary service to your profession and community. It makes you a shining inspiration to all around you. I remember a great time we had at a CDA annual conference in Saskatoon, Canada. During the banquet, most of us from Fort McMurray sat at the same table and had a fun time, sharing jokes and experiences while we ate. My wish for you in the next decade is that the Almighty continues to favour you with good health and prosperity as you gracefully march towards a century. Have a real blast! Uncle Sam Thank you for the wonderful memories of our vacation to visit you in Calgary in August 2014 with Gifty, Sedinam, and me. It was one of our greatest and most memorable times. I recall our visit to the shops ‘under protest,’ lol. You drove us from Calgary to Fort McMurray, stopping in Edmonton and other places, showcasing the vastness of Canada. We had a fantastic time with Ato, Chris, Ekow (aka “Mewhrewma”), and Grandma, who was also in Fort McMurray. I deeply appreciate your kindness, openness, and hospitality. My wish for you in the next decade is that the Lord keeps you and blesses you with long life and good health. May He also bless your family and the work of your hands. Charles Tettey I love your no-nonsense attitude and ability to say it like it is! You are honest, direct, and straightforward, making you trustworthy. In an age where political correctness and spin pervade, your candour is refreshing and much appreciated. I cherish the lunches we had while at work, attending political and MBA events together, meals out, and our walks. My wish for you in the next decade is good health, continued success, contentment, and more rest and relaxation. Christine Forfar The Birthday Journal 51
