One of the many wonderful qualities you possess is your authenticity. You are kind, genuine, and self-confident, and that is something I truly love about you. Though we were both undergraduates in Ghana, I only had the pleasure of meeting you in London, Ontario, when my husband was studying. As new members of the unofficial “Ghana Students Family of Platts Lane,” you, Ato, and the others welcomed us warmly and guided us through graduate student life. I fondly remember you giving me rides for groceries before we had a car. Those trips, filled with chats about family and laughter about politics, are cherished memories. Dearest Monica, wishing you a very happy 50th birthday. May this remarkable milestone bring you immense joy, countless blessings, and wonderful memories. May God grant you good health, wealth, and favour in all your endeavours. Here’s to the next 50 years being even more incredible than the first. Welcome to the fifth floor, sis. Agnes Annan I admire you for being real—down-toearth, open, and forthright. What you see is what you get with you. You are dedicated, reliable, and a faithful friend. Even though we’ve been separated by continents for decades, our phone conversations or meetings always feel like catching up with a sister. You truly care and generously share experiences to deepen our relationship. I wish you excellent health as we move into middle age and beyond, lots of love, joy in every aspect of life, and the chance to reap the rewards of all the investments you’ve made in your family, career, and community. Here’s to discovering new and exciting places to hike! Pia Monica, I admire how active you are, especially when I remember how you coached kids’ soccer in Fort McMurray. You are a true powerhouse, and I love it. At 50, you are the youngest you will be for the next 50 years. Enjoy the second half of your youth. May your day be filled with the strength and positivity you share with everyone around you. Here’s to celebrating you, the amazing woman you are. Happy Birthday And Remain Blessed. Johnny Quayson Your leadership is both inspiring and empowering. I truly admire your natural ability to guide and inspire others, particularly through mentoring young girls into STEM programs. One of my fond memories is when you organised a surprise grand party for the family during our move from Fort McMurray to Calgary! I wish you continued blessings, good health, and success in all your endeavours. Francis Salifu 48 The Birthday Journal
