You are the most tenacious and resilient woman I know. These qualities teach me to stand my ground and come out of adversity better and stronger. I have many great memories with you, but one of the most profound ones was when I would pack my things and threaten to leave the house when I was upset with my grandfather. We have had the privilege of being family friends, but also of our spouses being friends separately from early years in life; sharing countless family moments together from Christmas holidays, baby naming, birthdays, and graduations to all the other unplanned activities we call “life in its simplicity.” This spans “coast to coast” from Cape Coast, Ghana, to Accra/ Tema, Ghana, from Ontario to Fort McMurray, Alberta, and finally to Calgary, Alberta. Monica, you are smart, hardworking, generous, and a strong advocate for the causes you are passionate about and will go to great lengths to see them come to pass. These are qualities no one can take from you and are at the very core of your character. There is a lot you have achieved up to this stage in your life, and we are proud of all of it—from being a dedicated mother, a loving wife, a successful professional, and a determined leader in your career. All this would not have been possible without God’s grace, which has kept you through both good and bad times with exciting and challenging experiences.
