You are the most tenacious and resilient woman I know. These qualities teach me to stand my ground and come out of adversity better and stronger. I have many great memories with you, but one of the most profound ones was when I would pack my things and threaten to leave the house when I was upset with my grandfather. You would laugh and convince me not to leave. You’ve always had my back, even in the funniest circumstances. I wish you prosperity, long life, and good health. May you achieve even greater successes and have a life filled with joy, peace, and the glory of God. Susie Abena Williams Smith On this occasion, we celebrate your golden milestone with gratefulness to God for His grace and mercies, which have been abundant for you throughout the years that we have interacted as friends and also as family. We have had the privilege of being family friends, but also of our spouses being friends separately from early years in life; sharing countless family moments together from Christmas holidays, baby naming, birthdays, and graduations to all the other unplanned activities we call “life in its simplicity.” This spans “coast to coast” from Cape Coast, Ghana, to Accra/ Tema, Ghana, from Ontario to Fort McMurray, Alberta, and finally to Calgary, Alberta. Monica, you are smart, hardworking, generous, and a strong advocate for the causes you are passionate about and will go to great lengths to see them come to pass. These are qualities no one can take from you and are at the very core of your character. There is a lot you have achieved up to this stage in your life, and we are proud of all of it—from being a dedicated mother, a loving wife, a successful professional, and a determined leader in your career. All this would not have been possible without God’s grace, which has kept you through both good and bad times with exciting and challenging experiences. We have celebrated many of your achievements in very humble settings, but this tops them all as we take stock and remember what the Lord has done and how far He has brought you. It is our prayer that God’s favour continues to be upon you in the next chapter of your life. On our own behalf and on behalf of our kids who have called you one and only Auntie Monica, we say thank you for your continued friendship and support. You deserve it. Enjoy every bit of this moment, let it be a humbling experience, embrace who you are, and forge ahead with great hope and optimism. This is your time. Congratulations… Happy 50th birthday. Gilbert & Cynthia Hagan One of my great memories with you is when you humbly defeated me in bowling. I also deeply admire your wisdom and the invaluable advice you always provide. I pray that the Lord continues to shower you with blessings. Happy Birthday, Auntie Monica! Aba Ansa-Sam 44 The Birthday Journal
