I have known AuntieMonica since I was a little boy. She has been a solid friend to my mother, who is also Auntie Monica. AuntieMonica is such a warm, lovely mother to all. She is very welcoming and always has good advice to share and words of encouragement. One of my favourite phrases from her is, “Trust in God, Kuuku.” I still remember coming to Kumasi and staying a night at her house — she made me the best food ever! She gave me the best advice when I was getting married, and I will always be grateful for her wisdom. One lighthearted memory that still makes me smile is our trip to Lake Bosomtwe, where we enjoyed fresh coconut and fufu by the lakeside. AuntieMonica, you are lovely, a true Lady of God, and caring. Thank you for being so loving and supportive through all my wins and losses. They say you can’t choose family, but if I could, I would choose you as my aunt every time. Happy birthday to a wonderful woman and an even more amazing aunt. You have a heart of gold and a smile that brightens the world. My prayer for you is that God will guide your steps and bless your way. Wow, 80— you don’t look a day past 50! Wishing you the very best, and may God bless you with a long, healthy, and happy life. Love you!! Kwaku Kyei Ofori I first met MaMonica through her daughter, Akua Asante. I still smile when I remember the light-hearted moment we shared the day she realised we had the same name. I will always remember when she advised me on marriage and said, “Your husband and children come first before any career you end up in.” AuntieMonica touched my life deeply when I stayed with her during a children’s camp organised by theMethodist Church in Kumasi while I was at KNUST. She was so kind, getting up early to prepare breakfast and take care of everything before I set off to teach the children. Her hospitality throughout that week made a lasting impression on me and inspired me to always help others. Ever since, I’ve been intentional in teaching my sons and my Sunday School children about kindness. Happy Birthday, MaMonica! You are kind-hearted, special, and hospitable. Thank you also for giving me troublesome Akua! May the good Lord grant youmany more years of joy, peace, and happiness. Love lots, Monica Ansah Sam (Williams) 96 The Birthday Journal
