GIRLFRIEND! I met you almost 25 years ago. We got close right before I got married and had kids, and you were such a supportive adult for all of us going through the early stages of marriage and having children. You have been a mother-figure to many, and because of that, you are “Grandma” to a whole bunch of kids. One thing that has always stood out is how great a listener you are. You are very fair and you give great advice. You’re always on the side of what is right, not on the side of favour. You will tell me if I’m on the right side of something or if I need to do better, and I have learnt so much from that. You are fun, warm, and funny — three words that describe you perfectly. If I could thank you for just one thing, it would be for always being so encouraging and warm. My darling Girlfriend!! I hope someone films your reaction when you get all these notes so we can go over it all later. I can’t wait to see you so you can “boss” me on how it all went down.
