Congratulations on living for eight decades. I wish you good health, happiness, and peace that surpasses all understanding. You are eternally young, Auntie. AuntieMonica, I met you in the 80s at University Primary. You are a great woman who extends your love to your daughter Akua’s friends and makes us all feel loved. You are always that second mama we can count on. Thank you for sharing your love and kindness. There has never been a moment of misunderstanding with you— always best to stay on your good side! You are compassionate, live a sacrificial life, and are authentic. Thank you for the happiness and peace that reside within you; they truly pour out to others. Susan Dickson AuntieMonica, I first met you throughMrs. Elaine Owusu at her house. You are a very nice and kind person, and it is truly a pleasure to know you. One of my favourite memories is your phrase “Pondo pondo”. I have always admired how you show up for your family every time. Three words that describe you best are: kind, warm, and a beautiful soul. I thank you for being such a kind and warm person. Wishing you a very happy 80th birthday! Your warmth, kindness, and grace have touched so many lives, and it is truly a joy to celebrate this special milestone with you. May this year bring you continued happiness, good health, and the love of those who cherish you. Rosy Egyir I met AuntieMonica growing up on Tech campus. I call her Mrs. Asante or AuntieMonica. She has been a rock and a mother, and she helped make me the man I am today. One phrase I’ll never forget is, “Won’t you go to school?” She was always encouraging us to study and do well. Auntie Monica has been like a mother, librarian, and counsellor to me. She helped me at the KNUST library and even sat in as a marriage counsellor during my marriage crisis. As kids, we used to fight at the tennis court, and she would separate us and make us understand we were brothers. To this day, I see her sons as my brothers. AuntieMonica is a Mother for All. Thank you, AuntieMonica, for your care and honesty. You have been a great mother, librarian, and counsellor to many of us. May the goodness of the Lord continue to follow you and bless you with many more evergreen years ahead. Leonard Glover The Birthday Journal 79
