Monica 80 Magazine

I first met AuntieMonica at the Catholic Chaplaincy, KNUST, when I was transferred here in August 2019. I affectionately call her Nana 1. AuntieMonica is dedicated, devoted, ready to serve, and deeply selfless. She is never discouraged and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Her passion and patience, especially towards the youth and the Brass Band Group, are inspiring. She is generous, thoughtful, caring, and always wears a big smile —never seen angry. Amemorable light-hearted moment was when I asked her to offer a sheep for not seeking permission before travelling. She sent me a picture onWhatsApp and said, “Fr, your sheep is delivered!” Her humour and humility always make me smile. She has a wonderful way of making her voice heard, always clear yet gentle. In three words, she is dedicated, loving, and caring. I am grateful for her dedication, care, and the positive motivation she brings to everyone around her. As we celebrate God’s goodness in her life, we also acknowledge the incredible impact she has on the lives of many at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Chaplaincy, KNUST. Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony F. Naah SomeReflections fromYouthParenting Committee, Catholic Chaplaincy, KNUST A seven-member Chaplaincy Youth Parenting Committee was put together to facilitate the formation and development of the youth in the Chaplaincy. As a member of the committee, AuntieMonica has been very proactive. When it comes to the meetings and activities of the committee, AuntieMonica is one of the most regular and punctual members. She believes in the youth and thinks that they are the future of the Church and, hence, must be given the necessary formation, guidance, and direction to maximise their potential and involvement. She is so concerned about the youth that she is always advocating for one activity or another to be organised for them. Whenever any such activity is organised, she is always present unless something extraordinary prevents her from being there. AuntieMonica particularly believes in the need to identify the vulnerable youth in the community and support them. She is always looking out for the vulnerable among the youth in the Chaplaincy. On one occasion, a lady university student appeared from nowhere and became very active in the programs of the Chaplaincy. She was very active during the RosaryMonth, Laity Week activities, and many others. Quite a number of parishioners were amazed and enthused about her involvement. It was later realised that she had a baby and would need some catechetical guidance for baptism, confirmation, etc. One of us, who is the Chairman of the Pax (University Catholic StudentsMovement) Parents and also a member of the Youth Parenting Committee of the Chaplaincy, decided to go and discuss the lady’s situation with the Chairman of the Youth Parenting Committee. This was mentioned to AuntieMonica, and she said that she had already discussed it with the Chairman. Yes, that is AuntieMonica. She is always on the lookout to identify those in need and makes every effort to assist in whatever ways she can. AuntieMonica, on this memorable occasion, we congratulate and celebrate you for who you are. May the Lord continue to bless, guide, protect, lead, and direct you in everything that you do. May He strengthen you and enable you to do even more beyond 80. Happy Octogenarian Birthday Youth Parenting Committee, Catholic Chaplaincy, KNUST The Birthday Journal 183
