My mother, AuntieMonica fromAccra, introduced me to her — “AuntieMonica fromKumasi,” as we called her. She is a very truthful person. She tells things exactly as they are and advises so well. She always goes the extra mile to share real-life examples and, where possible, offer thoughtful and practical solutions. I remember fondly the first time I went to Tech, No. 2 Akroso Road. She took offmy dress and said, “May, donpe donpe nkwaa. Aden won di di.” As a growing child, I spent most of my long vacations in Kumasi with her family. I learned a lot from her and all her children. She treated me kindly and nurtured me as her own. Maa, you are a noble lady — cultured and disciplined. I am grateful that you accepted me into your home in Tech, Kumasi. Please continue to give advice whenever we meet; I love it. Thank you for everything you have done for me. I appreciate you so much. Happy 80th! Mabel Ofori Sampong I first met AuntieMonica during my primary school days. Her infectious smile has always inspired me. One of my favourite memories is baking cookies on the UST campus. Her gentle nature has always touched my life. There is a funny, light-hearted moment we share that always makes me smile, but it’s between the two of us. AuntieMonica is a very pretty woman. I thank her for her smile. I wish her long life, good health, the favour of God, happiness, and prosperity as she celebrates her 80th birthday. Manuela Angmor 116 The Birthday Journal
