MaaMonica, as I affectionately call her, has been like a mother to me — always offering words of advice, encouragement, and wisdom. I met MaaMonica in Kumasi in 2009. I remember when we first met again in London after years of knowing each other in Ghana. It was truly a joyful reunion, one I will always cherish. I recall going through some difficult times in the UK. MaaMonica would always call to check on me, pray with me, and encourage me. I’ll forever be grateful for her kindness and the sound advice she gave me during those trying moments in my life. I stayed withMaaMonica the first time I returned to Ghana after years abroad. It was such a special moment because we finally had the chance to laugh about all the hardships I had faced in the UK. I still smile whenever I remember those conversations and her reactions. My relationship withMaaMonica has always been peaceful and respectful. She is kind, loving, and funny! I’d like to thank her for her constant advice. Her words of wisdom have stayed — and will continue to stay —with me forever. AsMaaMonica turns 80, I want to say this: I don’t consider her just a friend or someone I know— I truly consider her a mother. I actually think I’m part of her children at this point! I loveMaaMonica dearly, and she will always have a special place in my heart. Happy Birthday, MaaMonica! I pray for good health, long life, and genuine happiness for you. God bless you always. Kusi It has been 32 years since I first met the delightful Auntie Monica. Isty and I had just returned from a three-year stay inNewcastle, and Isty insisted I meet her darling “auntie.” I quickly understood why — she was so warm, friendly, and easy to chat with. AuntieMonica is a wonderful lady for whom age never matters. I have always felt welcome and comfortable in her presence, especially since she graciously tolerates my playful teasing. She is truly adorable, gracious, and warm-hearted. I would like to thank you, AuntieMonica, for being such an approachable and kind auntie. As you celebrate your 80th, may our gracious Lord continue to bless you abundantly, surround you withHis presence, grant you good health, and keep making you a blessing to all who know you.
