Bonsu Magazine

Gyamfuah Osei Tutu One of the things I deeply appreciate about Bonsu is his unwavering support, invaluable advice, and guidance whenever I need it. I have fond memories of my brother helping me choose and buy my birthday biscuits and drinks. As a little girl, I was a huge fan of my birthday, and he made it even more special. On your special 50th birthday, my dear brother, I wish you a world of good health, boundless prosperity, unending happiness, and an abundance of God’s blessings. May your life continue to be filled with the very best it has to offer. Mercy Aya Nerquaye-Tetteh When it comes to Bonsu, the question shouldn’t be, “What do I love about him?” but rather, “What do I not love about Bonsu?” His presence in my home brings nothing but laughter, and as my madam says, he’s “always with the great jokes.” Regardless of how upset I may be about something, Bonsu has this incredible knack for making even the most serious issues seem trivial. He effortlessly makes me laugh, helping me forget why I was upset in the first place. But what I love most about Bonsu is the sacrifices he’s made so the rest of us can sleep at night. For that, I am eternally grateful from the depths of my heart. One of my treasured memories with Bonsu dates back to 2002 when my husband and I first moved to Severn, Maryland. We had the pleasure of meeting Bonsu through Dr. (Mrs.) Peters, affectionately known as Kweiba, and her roommate ‘Mrs. Tutu’ (Tish). Our initial impressions of Bonsu were that of a welldressed, official-looking gentleman who was incredibly nice and a joy to be around. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to spend much time together during those early days because he was frequently deployed. However, our friendship flourished when Bonsu was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. We were honored to be present to celebrate the birth of their son, Eli, which brought immense joy to all of us. As for the story of why I affectionately call Bonsu ‘Sexy,’ well, it all began in aWalmart parking lot. I’ll leave it at that to protect the innocent, but anyone who wants the full story can find me in chambers. If I had the opportunity to choose another blood brother, Bonsu would be second on my list. Jokes aside, Bonsu, you are more than a friend, more than a brother, more than a confidant; you have become my ‘ride or die.’ It speaks volumes when I say, “I can’t imagine my life without your laughter, your jokes, and your brutal honesty.” Despite what my girl might say, please continue being your awesome self – the amazing husband and father that you are. My wish for you in the next decade and beyond is all the happiness, joy, good health, and love that you so richly deserve. Yaw Agyare When it comes to great memories with Bonsu, there’s one unforgettable moment that comes to mind. It happened during a visit to his home in the United States when our beautiful wives, who also happen to be cousins, accused me of convincing him to try a cigar for the very first time. He tried the cigar, he enjoyed it, and the look on his face when he realized that he had succumbed to peer pressure was priceless. It goes to show how far he’s willing to go to make guests feel welcome and comfortable in his home. Bonsu, as you step into the golden age, my wish for you in the next decade is an abundance of God’s blessings in your life. May you continue to thrive, laugh heartily, and create countless unforgettable memories. Here’s to another fantastic 50 years and beyond. Enjoy your special day to the fullest, Bro! Much love!
