Bonsu Magazine

Sedrick Osei Tutu I have great memories with Bonsu, mainly frommy childhood. When we came to Virginia after my mom passed away, he welcomed our family with open arms and warmth. One thing I love about Bonsu is his all-around excellence, from finances to advice, and his ability to have fun. He’s an amazing person in every way. In my life, aside frommy father, there are few black men I see as pillars, but Uncle Bonsu is definitely one. May God bless you, Uncle, with an abundance of peace of mind, excellent health, and enduring comfort. Francis Quayson Bonsu’s remarkable humility, genuine respect for every individual, and his great sense of humor make him truly special to me. His wedding day will forever be etched in my memory. We had an unforgettable night out in Takoradi, filled with laughter and drinks, surrounded by the boys from both families. There were plenty of stories, but I won’t divulge the details to avoid upsetting my little sister! My heartfelt wish for Bonsu is that he continues to be the same wonderful person. I pray for good health and prosperity for him and his beautiful family. Loads of love to you! Tina and Nana Oye Asah Bonsu’s kindness, generosity, and perpetual great spirits make him an exceptional individual. We also appreciate how he takes such good care of our Mams and the boys. We’ve shared wonderful memories with Bonsu, spanning various countries and moments. Back in the 90s, Mams was part of our “chilling sista crew,” and her weekend disappearances raised our curiosity. She surprised us at one of our parties in Laurel, and we captured that moment in a photo that marked the beginning of an enduring friendship. In 2016, we visited them in Brussels, Belgium, and had an incredible time. Bonsu has consistently been an incredible host, ensuring we have everything we need for a fantastic time. Bonsu, may God’s abundant blessings of good health, wealth, peace, and happiness be forever fervent in your life. Augustus Osei Tutu Jr. Bonsu’s humility might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but his deep sense of family and compassion is truly unparalleled. He serves as the binding force among our six immediate siblings, keeping our lines of communication steady and open. I rely on him for important decisions, value his advice, and always appreciate his insights. I love him simply because he’s one of the finest men I know. Two significant memories with Bonsu stand out: • Nzema, Ghana - In 1981, during a scorching summer vacation in Nzema, while hunting flamingos for dinner, eight-year-old Bonsu accidentally fell into quicksand. As adults pondered the situation, Kofi and I formed a human bridge and rescued our little brother from the grip of the unknown. Thank goodness we did, as we wouldn’t have had the pleasure of his existence otherwise. • Fort Campbell, Kentucky - In December 1999, after my commissioning into the Commissioned Officer Corps, I had the honor of promoting my first military Non-Commissioned Officer, my brother Bonsu, at Fort Campbell, home of the Night Stalkers, 160th Special Operations. This promotion set him on a path to rise through the ranks of the Commissioned Officer Corps, a journey that continues to this day, over 20 years later. My wish for Bonsu is to work hard, play hard, cherish his family and friends, pursue his dreams, retire in good health, and live peacefully with the means to do anything and everything he desires! 51 The Birthday Journal
