The next day, she returned toMelanie’s place, where my mumwas visiting in the US. My mum invited her to share lunch from the same plate, and she agreed. After lunch, we all sat in the living room. I sat next to her and eventually laid my head on her lap. She froze at my bold action, and I could sense her surprise. However, as the weekend continued, we got more comfortable talking to each other. We started talking for 2 to 3 hours daily, and we visited each other frequently. The long journey between New Jersey and DC seemed surprisingly short when we were driven by our growing connection and love for each other.
