Alberta Magazine

What I love most about Auntie Alberta is her forthrightness — she will always say it as it is, with no pretence whatsoever. With her, you always knew where you stood. I remember with fondness every encounter in her company, especially during her visits to Geneva, where she treated Jean and me like her own children. For that, I say thank you, Alibi. Her cakes are legendary. Whenever Naana traveled to Ghana and visited Alibi in Takoradi, I would put so much pressure on her to bring some back — poor Naana! But we were never disappointed; those cakes always came and lasted us a while. One memory I will never forget was in 2016, when I arrived late in Takoradi for a funeral. Instead of heading straight to the hotel, I drove first to Alibi’s. Waiting for me was the best dokun and kyenam with proper Fante gravy — and I must confess, I have never eaten so much in my life! Auntie Alberta, you are truly one of the best 90-yearolds I know. You look amazing, still so beautiful, and full of life. I wish you God’s abundant blessings, favour, and above all, good health all the days of your life. Enjoy your new age and keep going from strength to strength. I love you! **Jeanette Dadzie To me, Auntie Alberta has always been such a loving and caring mother. Every time I visit her, I am welcomed with the warmest reception and, of course, treated to her delicious cake. My wish for her is many more years ahead, filled with God’s blessings and guidance. **Richard Yeesi Cudjoe Auntie Alberta’s generosity is something I will never forget. Twenty-nine years ago, she sponsored my wedding at the Assemblies of God Church in Takoradi — a gesture that has stayed with me to this day as a true testament of her kindness. Happy 90th birthday to an incredible woman. Ninety years of love, kindness, and generosity have touched countless lives, mine included. **Mrs. Comfort Sankah 54 The Birthday Journal
