Alberta Magazine

What I love most about Auntie Alberta is the deep concern she shows for everyone around her. After losing my own mother, she became a true mother figure to me—always caring and looking out for my well-being. That kind of love and kindness is rare, and I will always cherish it. I will never forget the difficult times in Ghana during the hunger strike in 1983. While so many people struggled, Auntie Alberta made sure I never felt that condition. I can still remember the smell of her warm, freshly baked bread filling the air—offering not just nourishment, but comfort, stability, and love when it was most needed. Reaching 90 is a true blessing, and Auntie Alberta wears it with strength and grace. My wish is that she continues to enjoy many more happy and healthy years ahead, because she has the spirit and energy to keep inspiring us all. **Bernardine Adwoa Prempeh I love Auntie Alberta’s supportive nature because she has always been the calm in every storm. It’s hard to choose just one memory since there are so many, but I’ll never forget our teenage years. After our little adventures, Mama would be waiting for us in the sitting room at Beach Road. Somehow, she always knew when we were up to mischief, and she never hesitated to discipline us. She has truly been my mother, confidant, advisor, and guide—a formidable and remarkable woman of many parts, a true mother to all. My wish for Mama is good health and long life, filled with happiness, goodwill, and the blessings of the Lord. **Ewuradjoa Sangmuah-Tabbicca 52 The Birthday Journal
